I went for a holiday in Adelaide, Australia this month, and returned with many, many photos. I decided not to post a detailed travel log like I did previous times, because I’m just too tired out from editing, uploading and describing the photos. So I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Click on the organ (my favourite photo of the trip) to go to the album, or read below the fold for a brief summary of the places I visited. You can also visit my Flickr for selected photos, or my deviantArt for my favourites.

Day 1

Went to Port Adelaide to take the two-hour Dolphin Cruise, then a walk at Elder Park/Torrens River.

Day 2

Went to Barossa Valley and visited Kies, Jacob’s Creek, Penfolds and Saltram cellar doors. Also visited Tanunda and Angaston briefly.

Day 3

Went to Goolwa Beach to pick cockles (didn’t pick any as they were all too small), followed by Port Elliot and Victor Harbour and the nearby Granite Island. Finally a short visit to Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary

Day 4

Visited Central Market and Chinatown, then headed to Marion Shopping Centre, Adelaide’s largest shopping centre. Next, Glenelg and its beach, and finally Harbour Town.

Day 5

Went up to Mt. Lofty Summit for a view of Adelaide, then headed to Hahndorf, a German town. Ended the day at Tea Tree Plaza.

Day 6

Visited the Adelaide Botanic Garden, then the Haigh’s Chocolates Visitors Centre. Finally shopping at Rundle Mall.

Day 7

Back to Hahndorf to try the pork hock at German Arms Hotel, and more Rundle Mall.

Day 8

Glenelg and Harbour Town.

Day 9

Grocery shopping, then spent the rest of the day at the apartment cooking and chilling.

Yesterday, I headed to MacRitchie Reservoir Park to visit the HSBC TreeTop Walk. Although it had been raining heavily the previous few days, yesterday was an exception, with nice sunny weather, but not too hot, and it got a little cloudy (and hence cooling) in the later part. Still, it was quite tiring doing all the walking (I need to exercise more).

I enjoyed shooting with my D90 and 18-200mm lens, and in fact, I really appreciated the range of the lens, allowing me to keep that lens on the whole time. You can see the complete album here. Or you can view selected photos on my Flickr.

I’ve uploaded some photos from my spankin’ new Nikon D90.

My favourite shot:

Yes, I now own my first DSLR, a Nikon D90 with Nikon 18-200mm and Tokina 11-16mm lenses.

I did my first walk-about shoot yesterday, to practise shooting with the D90, as well as the 11-16 lens. Yes, ultra-wide angle lenses are not easy to use effectively. I definitely learnt a lot after reviewing the photos I took.

There’s still so much more to learn, and I hope I’ll have more photos to share soon.
